BIO & CONTACT INFO
Doris Price received her BS in painting and writing in 1974 from Empire State College of The State University of New York. As a long time painter/printmaker, she has explored many interests and mediums. During the last three decades, reminiscences and independent studies have led her to conclude that there has been a continuous jitterbug dance partnering Jazz with the American way of life.
“Jazz From The Belly Of The Blues”, is Doris Price’s work-in-progress. There will be ten chapters of “her”story of Jazz. Some chapters will have more words, and some more images. Hopefully, all, in a perhaps sparse and poetic manner, will offer entertainment as well as information to add enhancement to your memories and possibly, your lives.
The modern technology of inkjet printing and internet publishing economically permits the publication of this book. Price says “I want to say what I want to say, in the manner that I want. If I mix prose and poetry; posters, prints and greeting cards; and whatever else I think will please you – why not?”
Since returning to her home state of Delaware, in 1995, Price has had:
two solo exhibitions at the Arts Center Gallery of Delaware State University; two in the Mezzanine of the State Office Building in Wilmington, DE.; one solo exhibition at the Nassau Valley Vineyards Gallery in Lewes, DE.; and has been in several two person and group shows including The Ward Museum, Salisbury, MD; The Legends and Lore Gallery, Dewey Beach, DE and The Beachcombers Easel Art Gallery, Ocean City, MD (now in the process of moving to Selbyville, DE).
